Good to know
Do I keep the rights to my work?
Yes, always. You own your story. We only need permission to host it and show it to the readers you share it with, and that ends when you delete it.
What happens to my stories if I stop paying?
Nothing breaks. Every story you've published stays online at the same link, so a printed QR code never stops working. You'll keep editing one story on the Free plan, and you can unlock the rest again by resubscribing.
Can I change a story after publishing it?
Yes. Edit the text or cover and republish as often as you like. The link and QR code stay the same, and readers see the new version the next time they open it.
What kind of manuscript can I upload?
Plain text or a Markdown (.md) file up to 10 MB, which is plenty for a novel. Separate paragraphs with a blank line and put * * * on its own line for a scene break. Covers can be JPG, PNG, or WebP.
Is my story public?
Your story is unlisted. It lives at a long, hard-to-guess link, and we never list it in a directory or link to it ourselves, so readers find it through you. Anyone you send the link to can read it and pass it on, so treat it like sharing a document by link.
Do my readers need an account or an app?
No. They open the link in any modern browser. If they'd like, they can save the story to their home screen to read offline.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from your account and you keep Writer features until the end of the period you've paid for. See our refund policy for details.
